Gathering Update #2

I hope these posts are getting you excited for what we are all going to be experiencing in Detroit this summer!

Fundraising:

Please make every effort to be at these fundraisers.  I don’t keep track of who is at what, but the money raised goes to the entire group.  In fairness to others please be at these fundraisers.

Shares:

Your shares need to be completed by 4/19.  These are raising at least $200 from members of the congregation or whomever you choose to ask.  These shareholders will be invited to a dinner in August to hear about Detroit.

If you haven’t received this information yet, please let me know.

Pizzas:

We will be making pizzas on Saturday 3/14 at 9:30a in the fellowship hall. Please let me know if you wont be there. If you want to order a pizza you can do so in person or online.

Auction:

The auction (one of the biggest fundraisers, hopefully the biggest) will be on Saturday 4/19 in the evening.  I will get the time out once that is finalized, its tentatively at 6:00p.  This is a mandatory fundraiser to be at. At the next Gathering meeting we will have sign ups for day teams to help with aspects of the auction.

Shirts:

We have one shirt left to make.  This is where you come in! If you want to submit a design, send it to me, and we will vote on our favorite design at a Gathering meeting. If you have any questions please let me know.

The design needs to a single color, and preferably on the front or the back.

Gathering Update

This has been an exciting week for the Gathering! I have recevied much information on the Gathering and finalzed some exciting things.

Here is our order for the Gathering:

Proclaim Justice (service learning)

• New this year! We will not know our service location until we are on our buses on the way to serve.  This is really great becuase this allows the local organizations choose where they need us to serve.

Proclaim Story (synod day)

• We will get the opportunity to spend the day with fellow youth from our synod.  During our time together we will get to learn and practice sharing our story with others.

Proclaim Community (interaction center)

• 11 football fields. 1,100 yards. 3,300 feet. of space full of interactive learning.  There will be a blood drive, sports, ziplines, challenge course, inflateables, art, service, and so much more. All of this will be centered around the cross.

Hotel:

We are staying at the Comfort Inn in Taylor.

We are a 30 minute drive from where most of our events will be taking place.
